For those who didn’t rise early enough to help us find The friendlies yesterday, here’s a big shout out to the eagle eyed hunters, Graeme The Dunnage Janitor, who seized The Golden Bunny, and the overall winner of a fine island malt whisky, Simon Nutkin.
Sadly, after that weekend of light relief we’re now back to another 5 day spell in Desolation Bog. As some of you may have already surmised, and friends of my alter ego will know, my personal music tastes tend to the darker side. This is truly enjoyable in a dimly lit room with a wee dram, although the ever tolerant Sherpa Shirl usually absents herself via noise cancelling headphones and yet another episode of Midnight Mystery Murders.
But maybe for defeating the bandit Squamous Cells and conquering Carcinoma, there’s better music than The Needle And The Damage Done, Broken Hearted People and Looks Like I’m Up Shit Creek Again.
We need more tempo. So, this morning, with Sherpa Shirl’s trusty medium wave, heterodyne wireless receiver we were delighted to pick up Bog Radio, produced by one of the local friendlies, Amy McBrainy, because more tempo is just what Bog Radio provides. Tom Petty’s opening track, I Won’t Back Down, on this bog bashing Spotify WIP from Amy McBrainy is now the official anthem for our mission.
(Spotify login required to listen to the whole playlist).
All comments welcome please with other great Kick Ass Tunes For Old Commanders.
End Note: Two things about Amy’s list; Firstly it does of course contain Desolation Row, but with Sherpa Shirl’s angelic patience I don’t think we’ll have one of those. Secondly it contains the original mono version of Satisfaction. Exactly how old does she think I am?
Chris - I present the greatest song about paranoia and being trapped in a room while your mind plays tricks on you. Should tick your requirements of 1. tending towards the darker side, 2. more tempo, 3. current constraints.
